Down the negative spiral with collaboration?

Despite the title of this blog entry I like collaboration. However, there are collaboration and collaboration, and the reason to collaborate is to achieve more not less. Through a tweet I found this interesting article on the negative side of collaboration. From my own experience I believe that many "collaborates" without having any real knowledge about what collaboration or even cooperation really means and they both have base in mutual understanding and goals. This is not easy it has to be worked on everyday and does not just happen. Just as the article above I don't believe that the answer to better cooperation or collaboration are modern trendy open-plan offices with plenty of ad-hoc meetings between people.
